How to Create DIY Homemade Bath Bombs

Winter is upon us, and cold temperatures mean a good hot bath!

There is nothing better than bath bombs to make us appreciate a moment of relaxation.

Bath bombs take our daily bath to the next level by making it instantly more special while being good to our skin. It’s so simple: you throw one in the water of your bath while you run it and watch it melt with ease.

Other arguments for adopting bath bombs: they are very easy to do yourself, plus they are really inexpensive compare to the ones you can buy at the beauty shop. In addition to the ingredients listed below, you will need molds or empty plastic spheres to be opened in the middle. You can order them online in specialty stores or Amazon.

How to Create DIY Homemade Bath Bombs

Preparation: 25 minutes

Waiting time: 24 hours

This “recipe” makes 2-4 bath bombs, depending on the size of the mold you are using.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of baking soda
  • 1/2 cup of cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup of citric acid
  • 1/2 cup of Epsom salt
  • 2 3/4 tbsp of your choice of olive oil
  • 1 tbsp of water
  • 20 drops of essential oil of your choice
  • Food coloring (optional).

Preparation

Step 1

Pass the Epsom salt through a food processor until you get a fine powder.

Step 2

Sift all the dry ingredients into the large bowl, mix well with the whisk.

Step 3

In a small bowl, combine all liquid ingredients, including food coloring, if using.

Step 4

Add the liquids gently to the dry ingredients. Mix until the texture slightly retains its shape.

Step 5

Place the mixture in the mold cavities and firmly pack down the mixture. Squeeze the two molds together.

Step 6

Leave the mold to rest for 24 hours in a dry place.

Step 7

You are ready to use your bath bomb and take a long hot bath!
