5 Yoga Poses to Spice Up Your Sex Life

I’m just going to go ahead and say it…who doesn’t love great sex? And who doesn’t want more amazing sex in their life?

It’s time to get bendy!

We’ve got all the yoga exercises you need for better sex in this article. Whether you want to feel more confident in your body or you want to get more intimate with your partner, these moves will help you do just that.

And there’s even scientific research to back all of this up.

In a study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, researchers found that yoga improved sexual function for women, including improved desire, arousal, orgasm, satisfaction, and lubrication, along with less pain.

Yes, yoga is more than just holding a few poses or stretching out your body. All of this can translate into a better sex life.

So, if you’re ready to amp up the sex with your partner, get closer in your relationship, and feel good about yourself, keep reading. These yoga poses are exactly what you need!

5 Yoga Poses to Spice Up Your Sex Life

1. The Cat-Cow for Stronger Orgasms

Wait, what? Yup, you read that right.

This yoga pose is a common one. What you don’t know is that it actually strengthens a woman’s pelvic floor, an area that runs from your front pubic bone to your anus.

In turn, you’ll be able to achieve a stronger orgasm (major win!), and so will your partner (double win!). Here’s how to do it:

  • Begin on all fours.
  • Inhale and gently curve your back down, arching your belly toward the floor and bringing your gaze up.
  • Pause, then exhale as you pull your belly in and bring your head between your arms.
  • Continue to do this for 5-10 breaths.
  • For the best results, try pausing in the middle of these two poses and tightening through your belly and hip area. This will strengthen your transverse abdominis muscle, helping prevent back pain (which can totally throw a wrench in your sex life).

2. Downward Facing Dog for More Energy

Do you and your partner often opt for the excuse that you’re just “too tired” to have sex? You simply don’t have the energy - and this isn’t really a one-off. It seems to happen all the time.

Luckily, you don’t have to get stuck in this rut. As far as yoga poses for better sex go, this one won’t just improve your sex life. It will also help you restore the energy that you’ve been seriously lacking. Maybe it will even help you excel in other parts of your life.

Here’s how you do it:

  • Begin on all fours in the tabletop position.
  • Push up with your hands and bring your tailbone high to the sky so that you create an upside-down “v.”
  • Ensure your head remains between your arms and that you push your heels down to the ground (or as close as you can get them!).
  • Hold here for at least 5 breaths. If you’re feeling ambitious, go for 10!

3. Lizard for Better Flexibility

If you struggle to try new positions or you want to mix it up by improving your flexibility, the lizard pose is what you need.

This is a great yoga pose to add if you do stretches before sex (I mean, this can’t hurt, right? If anything, stretches are a great warm-up, especially if you and your partner do them together). Here’s how you do this one:

  • Begin in downward dog (if you want to perform a flow, this is a great place to start).
  • Step your right foot to the outside of your right hand.
  • Gently bring your left knee down to the ground.
  • Place your left hand down as well.
  • If you can, bring yourself down to your forearms. If not, hold with your arms straight. Do what works for you!
  • Hold here for 5-10 breaths.

4. Happy Baby for Hip Opening

Looking for not only yoga poses for better sex but yoga poses you can do during sex?

The happy baby pose, maybe best called “happy husband,” offers all of the above. This exercise helps open up your hips and bring your legs back and up, making sex all that much easier. Here’s how you do it:

  • Lay face-up on a comfortable surface (bed or yoga mat, you pick!).
  • Keep your tailbone on the floor and bring your feet up so that you can hold them with your hands.
  • Grab the outside edges of your feet and intend your knees down toward the floor.
  • Hold here for 5-10 breaths (or as long as you like to get some action in!).

5. Bridge Pose for Power

This yoga pose for a good sex life helps strengthen your quads and glutes, giving you power for your thrust. Sounds good, right?

Here’s how you do it:

  • Lay face up and bend your knee while planting your feet flat on the ground.
  • Rest your arms on either side of your body.
  • Gently squeeze your glutes and lift your hips and buttocks off the ground.
  • Hold for 5-10 breaths and repeat.

Use Yoga for a Good Sex Life

Give the yoga exercises for better sex above a try. Better yet, do them with your partner. Use it as foreplay and a way to get close. You can even help each other out with these stretches to add a little more intimacy.

After all, good sex plays a major part in every relationship.

Even though we don’t talk about it all that much, it matters! It brings us closer. It connects us to our partner. So, go revamp your sex life and have fun. Only good can come from it.
