Feed Your Body Friday: 3 Must-Bake Holiday Cookies
Who doesn’t love Holiday cookies!
Whether it is to make your kids happy, for an exchange with friends, to offer to colleagues or to liven up your holiday table, this is the perfect dessert, with infinite gourmet variations! Besides, Holiday cookies are a treasured tradition!
When you’re a kid you carefully placed them with a glass of milk near the fireplace before going to bed, the heart filled with hope that Santa Claus will come to taste them leaving behind many gifts! Later, we still love them, whether in their simplest form or filled with chocolate, sugar or candy. With their colors and festive shapes, Holiday cookies are a must-have for the Holiday season.

Vegan Gingerbread Cookies
Slightly spicy! These cookies make us want to dip them in a big glass of milk or a cup of tea
Preparation: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 9 minutes
Servings: 16 cookies
Ingredients
- ⅓ cup unsweetened applesauce
- 5 Medjool Dates
- ¼ cup molasses
- 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
- ⅔ cup of plant-based milk (I used oat milk for this recipe)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- ¼ tsp. fine salt
- 1 tbsp. cornstarch
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp. ground ginger
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350 ° F and spread parchment paper on a baking sheet.
- First, place the dates, molasses, and plant-based milk of your choice in a blender. Blend until you obtain a smooth texture.
- In a bowl combine applesauce and vanilla extract together and mix well.
- Once this is mixed well, add the blended date/molasses/milk puree from the blender.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, cornstarch, cinnamon, and ginger.
- Next, add your dry ingredients to the mixture.
- Once this is all combined and is dough-like, place in the fridge for 1 hour.
- After the 1 hour, roll out dough to 1/4-inch thickness on lightly floured work surface.
- Get your cookie cutters! Cut into gingerbread men shapes with cookie cutter and place them 1-inch apart your baking sheet.
- Bake for about 9 minutes and allow them to cool completely before decorating.
- Decorate however your heart desires and store cookies in airtight container up to 5 days.
Gluten-Free Snow Ball Cookies
You can invite the little ones into the kitchen when the time comes to dip the balls of dough into the icing sugar. They will be happy to help!
Preparation: 40 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Servings: 20 cookies
Ingredients
- 2 ½ cups almond powder
- ½ cup roasted almonds, finely chopped
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 egg
- 2 cups icing sugar
Preparation
- Preheat oven 350 ° F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, combine the almond powder and almonds. Reserve.
- In another bowl, cream butter, egg and ½ cup icing sugar with electric mixer.
- With a wooden spoon stir in the almond powder mixture.
- Use about 1 tablespoon of dough to form a ball and shape them by rolling them with your hands or using an icecream scoop.
- Spread cookies over the baking sheet leaching about an inch between each ball.
- Bake for 15 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes.
- Roll the cookies a little hot in the remaining icing sugar. Cool completely. Roll the cooled cookies a second time in the icing sugar.
- Serve and enjoy!
Chocolate Chips and Candy Cane Cookies

Cooking time: 10 minutes
Servings: 24 Cookies
Ingredients
- ¾ cups butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 30 ml warm water
- 2 eggs
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- ½ cup chocolate chips
- ½ cup crushed candy cane
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 375 ° F and place parchment paper on a cookie sheet.
- In a bowl, mix butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar.
- In the same bowl, add eggs, water, and vanilla.
- Beat these ingredients together until you get a dough with a creamy consistency.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the two mixtures together.
- Beat everything together, adding the chocolate chips and candy cane to the mixture as you mix.
- Make small balls with the dough and place on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 7 to 9 minutes.
- Once done, let the cookies cool on the plate for 2 to 3 minutes.
