In addition to saving you time in the morning, it will keep you full for a long time and provide you with good nutrients. Also, this is a yummy alternative to storebought instant oatmeal that is often WAY too sweet.

You can leave it in the fridge all night and either warm it in the morning or eat it as is! Hot and cold oatmeal lovers are welcome, of course! It’s delicious as cold for breakfast on the road or in the office. In addition, its sweet taste goes perfectly with tons of toppings we love according to our desires like fruits, nuts, and grains.
The basic method is to incorporate the ingredients you desire (or per recipe) in a mason jar or bowl, mix well and cover. That’s it, voilà you’re done! In the morning just garnish your oatmeal with fruit and nuts of your choice, the possibilities are endless; only your imagination is your limit.
This idea is obviously not mine, and I definitely did not reinvent the wheel here. However, since I discovered this concept, my rushed mornings are so much easier, so I wanted to inspire you with my favorites.
Without further ado, here are my 3 favorite combinations of oatmeal to be prepared the day before.
Mango & Coconut Oatmeal
The taste of coconut and mango with the oatmeal is so delectable that it will make your senses travel to the beach!
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Waiting time: 8 hours
Serving: 1-2
Ingredients
- ½ cup oatmeal
- ¾ cup milk of your choice
- 2 tbsp. maple syrup
- 1 tsp. chia seeds
- 1 mango cut in small cubes
- ¼ cup grated coconut
Preparation
- In a bowl mix oatmeal, milk, maple syrup, and chia seed.
- Place in the fridge overnight.
- Once ready place half of the oatmeal in a jar, add half of the mango and follow by adding the rest of the oatmeal.
- Add the rest of the mango and the grated coconut on top.
Apple, Almond & Cinnamon Oatmeal
The perfect combination, it’s almost like having an apple pie for breakfast!

Ingredients
- ½ cup oatmeal
- ¾ cup milk of your choice
- 2 tbsp. maple syrup
- 1 tsp. chia seeds
- ½ tsp. cinnamon
- 1 apple cut in small cubes
- ¼ cup almond chopped
Preparation
- In a bowl mix oatmeal, milk, maple syrup, chia seed, and cinnamon.
- Place in the fridge overnight.
- Once ready, place half of the oatmeal in a jar, add half of the cubed apple in the middle and follow by adding the rest of the oatmeal.
- Add the rest of the apple with chopped almond on top.
- Sprinkle with a little bit of cinnamon.

Chocolate & Banana Oatmeal
The chocolate and banana oatmeal is so sweet and creamy, you’ll be looking forward to the morning.

Ingredients
- ½ cup oatmeal
- ¾ cup milk of your choice
- 2 tbsp. maple syrup
- 1 tsp. chia seeds
- 1 tbsp. cacao
- 1 banana
- 1 tbsp. cacao nibs or chocolate chips
Preparation
- In a bowl mix oatmeal, milk, maple syrup and chia seed.
- Place in the fridge overnight.
- Once ready place half of the oatmeal in a jar, add half of the banana in slices in the middle and follow by adding the rest of the oatmeal.
- Add the rest of the banana and the chocolate nibs on top.
There you go! You’re all set! If you want to eat something different from your peanut butter toast, but don’t want to get up 5 minutes earlier in the morning, this breakfast is for you! The best part about overnight oatmeal is you can make it whatever you’d like: You can make it as sugary and decadent or healthy and nutritious as you desire. What’s not to love?
