Article: Sit With Your Soul & Re-Write Your Story

Sit With Your Soul & Re-Write Your Story

Sit With Your Soul & Re-Write Your Story

“What could I say to you that would be of value, except that perhaps you seek too much, that as a result of your seeking you cannot find.”

- Hermann Hesse, Siddhartha

One of the most valuable personal growth and development techniques is recognizing the stories you tell yourself about your life and letting go of the ones that just aren’t serving you.

Our minds seek to make sense of everything in life. We are always calculating cause and effect, even if subconsciously, as if there is a frantic, messy mental filing process that is always backed up and disorganized. This causes stress and imbalance in our energy system and even blocks the natural flow of intuition, your reservoir of inner wisdom.

So, how do we bypass the hectic mind and experience the more miraculous side of life where we can access true wisdom and live peacefully? Simple mantras and affirmations will help you recognize and drop the unnecessary stories that your subconscious mind is playing on repeat throughout your life.

You know, the ones that say, ‘you’re stuck,’ or ‘something bad is going to happen,’ or ‘you can’t make enough money to live comfortably.’ Those same stories affect our confidence and our ability to have healthy relationships.

We have a simple 3-step process you can use as motivation daily before you start your day and when the day is coming to a close. Grab a pen, journal or piece of paper and get ready for some soul level transformation.

Step 1: Recognize the Stories You Tell Yourself About Your Life

Sit quietly and write down the stories you believe about your life. What type of person do you believe yourself to be? What is your career? What is your love life like? How easily do you find success? What are the main narratives that you believe about your life?

You can think of how you would respond if you were to sit down in front of someone and they were to say, ‘so tell me about you.’ You don’t have to hold back about tough areas that you wouldn’t usually talk about such as health, family, finances or even emotional health.

It’s very valuable to recognize each of these narratives as a story because it unlocks your ability to see that they are just that. They are not reality but merely a story you habitually tell yourself either because you want to or you’ve gotten used to it.

Once you’ve written down the main stories of your life with total honesty, underneath them, write, “I recognize the stories I believe about my life.”

Step 2: See the Stories that are Harmful or Negative

Now, look at the stories you wrote down and circle the stories that are negative even if at the moment you don’t believe you can change them. For example, if you wrote down, “I can’t get a job interview,” or, “I never meet nice guys,” just circle it as a part of the exercise.

You are embarking upon a very powerful journey where you will be able to dislodge the most powerful stories that are not serving your mind. We often brainwash ourselves into accepting certain realities because we do not know or have not yet experienced the power of the mind.

Now write boldly and clearly,

“I see these stories for what they are: negative and false.”

Step 3: Release Each Negative Story & Replace It

Now take a look at the stories you have circled and just allow the idea into your mind that you can drop those stories and be free of them. If you initially resist this notion or you don’t believe it, take a deep breath and trust that there is freedom and power in this process.

Now cross out the stories that are negative as if you’re permanently deleting them from your life story. There is a cathartic release that happens when you decide to release a negative story so revel in this exercise.

You are giving yourself true empowerment which has been chased by ancient sages and mystics for ages. You are opening your true ability to create the life you desire and you are moving energy. You are able to drop these stories and write new ones, right here, right now. You can feel the energy building and you feel your energy returning to you as you cross each one out.

Now find a blank page and write, “I release each negative story and replace it.” Then write down stories that you want to believe about your life that are positive and empowering.

Perhaps write, “I attract abundance everywhere I go,” or, “I’m so kind and friendly that I make sincere friends all the time.”

Get excited, because this process is already changing your life!

Closing Thoughts…

“Have you also learned that secret from the river; that there is no such thing as time?” That the river is everywhere at the same time, at the source and at the mouth, at the waterfall, at the ferry, at the current, in the ocean and in the mountains, everywhere and that the present only exists for it, not the shadow of the past nor the shadow of the future.”

- Hermann Hesse, Siddhartha

Keeping those negative stories from eating all the food on your energetic table leaves you with more to sustain yourself and others. This simple process can be a quick part of your empowered lifestyle that makes a monumental impact. In a world dangling wellness living tips and selling products at every turn, true power and peace are in the consistent direction and awareness of your own mind.

While we can’t all go live in an ashram and learn meditation techniques all day, simply deconditioning your mind with this three-pronged affirmation practice will change and transform your perception to help you see beyond the illusions to the true multidimensional universe which we are a part of.

This universe supports you and communicates with you when you get in the flow with it. The way to tap into unlimited resources, magical connections, and an even deeper sense of truth and identity is to drop the stories that don’t serve us and just ride the flow of the river of life.
