5 Essential Foods to Develop Your Intuition

You’ve probably heard of intuitive eating. But have you heard about intuition foods?

If not, don’t worry. We’re going to learn this one together.

I did a bit of digging and came up with this list of five essential foods for developing intuition. How do these foods develop your intuition? Why bother developing intuition? We’ll cover this all and then some.

What is Intuition?

Cambridge Dictionary defines “intuition” as “an ability to understand or know something immediately based on your feelings rather than facts.”

This is the concept behind intuitive eating.

This way of eating is fairly simple: Eat when you feel hungry and stop when you’re full. This forces you to tune into your body. Are you actually hungry? And if you are, what does your body need right now to feel good?

Intuition is also that feeling you get about a person right off the bat.

Maybe you have a bad feeling about them. Down the road, it turns out they betrayed you or someone else. Or maybe (let’s take a positive spin on this) you have a good feeling about someone. A few years later, you’re getting married and building a life together.

This is intuition, my friends!

It’s that feeling, when you know, kind of like a “gut feeling.” And this is why intuition foods are also so important. That feeling related to your intuition derives from your gut. You can tune into it better when you eat foods that make you and your digestive tract feel good.

So, what should you eat to promote intuition and allow yourself to follow your heart in life truly?

5 Foods That Promote Intuition

A research study conducted in 2010 indicated that bodily responses are innate sources of emotional experience and intuition. In other words, the state of your body (and gut) may drastically increase or potentially inhibit your ability to use your natural intuitive ability that all of us humans have.

But these five foods might help you out and help you harness that intuition, guiding you toward where you’re meant to be in life.

So, let’s dive in!

1. Cacao

Who doesn’t love chocolate milk or a nice cup of hot chocolate? If you’re a chocolate addict like me, you’re probably celebrating the fact that cacao made it on this intuition food list.

The one hang-up here is… don’t go for processed chocolate. These come loaded with preservatives and added sugar. Stick to organic or raw cacao.

So, why cacao for increasing intuition? The cacao bean is jam-packed with antioxidants and minerals, contributing to a well-functioning immune system and overall good health.

2. Fatty Fish

Think tuna, salmon, or sardines.

These fatty fish are DHA-rich foods. DHA is a necessary compound for proper brain function and development. In fact, ensuring you get enough DHA in your diet may help reduce your risk of cognitive decline, including developing Alzheimer’s disease.

Further, DHA deficiencies are associated with depression, which is further associated with various other health problems.

By keeping your brain functioning in tip-top shape, you can allow your body and gut feelings to guide you a bit better throughout life. If you’re not in good health, it’s that much harder to tune in and understand what’s going on or what actions you should take.

3. Maca

Maca has quickly soared to the top of currently trending foods or drinks. Some individuals have even replaced their morning cup o’ joe with a maca drink. And we’re not here to argue with that (maca drinks are seriously delicious, and we are totally here for it!).

Maca is actually hailed as an adaptogen.

This means that it helps your body deal with stress. And in turn, it can help you feel energized, calm, and more balanced. In fact, doing this may help balance your hormones, which is essential for overall mental and physical health.

With proper hormonal balance, you can also follow your gut better!

4. Beets

I get that beets aren’t exactly everyone’s thang. (And if you don’t exactly love beets, I dare you to try them as a soup with a bit of sour cream, then get back to us on that.)

So, why beets? Beets are actually known for opening up your Third Eye. Developing intuition is directly related to this. The Third Eye provides a new perspective and other ways to view life or situations in life.

And beets are pretty good for your body! With various vitamins and minerals they give your body some of what it needs, which directly relates to your organ health. And again, when everything in your body is functioning as it should, you can learn to trust those gut feelings more and understand your internal energy and dialogue better.

5. Avocado

And then we’ve got a self-proclaimed superfood among us! The avocado hasn’t really gone out of style and likely for a good reason. Not only is it delicious (avocado + toast = yum!), but it’s also high in alpha-lipoic acid, a powerful antioxidant.

This compound helps neutralize reactive substances in the body, protecting your body from damage.

By reducing oxidative stress and decreasing toxic elements in the body, consuming avocado regularly can help you clearly interpret the messages your body is sending you.

Other Intuition Tips

Okay, so what else should you know? Sure, you could eat these five foods every day. Yet, is there more when it comes to developing intuition? We’ve got a few intuition tips:

  • Observe and go with your energy levels.
  • Start listening to your gut. Something doesn’t feel, right? Maybe don’t do it!
  • Try meditation to really tune into yourself.
  • Check in with yourself each day and try to tune into your intuition. Life gets busy, so making time can really help you understand this “gut feeling” more.
  • Ask questions. This may be asking others for clarification or asking yourself the tough questions and taking time to reflect.
  • Trust yourself. This can be tricky but give it time! Trusting and loving yourself is one of the best things you can do to lead the life you’ve always wanted.

Begin Increasing Your Intuition Today!

Why not try out intuitive eating to really dive into what your body is telling you? Begin truly achieving your full potential by allowing how you feel to guide you (at least partially, we’ve got to mention that common sense does count for something here!).

When you finally begin following your intuition, you might find the world opens up to you. Opportunities happen. You feel lighter, happier, and at peace.

Try it, and who knows where it will take you?
