The Benefits of Celery Juice: Re-Stalk Your Hydration!

Even if you’re not a fan of vegetable juices, you’ve probably heard about celery juice. Everyone seems to be drinking it right now, especially on Instagram! Today, we’re going to talk all the benefits of this healthy, new trend that is everywhere on social networks.

Eating celery stalks on their own is very healthy, but it’s not the same as drinking pure celery juice. When celery is pressed, its benefits are actually more numerous. You’re also able to drink a lot more celery juice than simply eating celery stalks by themselves.

The Benefits of Celery Juice

Celery juice is great for the liver. It boosts our bile and helps the liver remove chemicals, pollutants, pathogens, and other toxins. All of these products that accumulate in the body are the source of many health problems and can cause chronic diseases.

Made of 95% of water, celery also contributes to hydrating your skin cells. And, thanks to its many minerals and antioxidants (such as calcium, magneisum, and selenium), regular consumption of celery juice will make your complexion nothing short of radiant.

But that’s not all. Celery juice is an excellent ally in weight loss. Very low in calories while high in fiber, it fights against water retention, cellulite, and facilitates intestinal transit. This juice also has diuretic and digestive properties. Drinking celery juice can reduce your appetite and help eliminate some of the sugars and fats in our bodies. Similarly, it reduces the risk factors associated with obesity.

Last but not least, the presence of mineral salts such as magnesium, potassium, and calcium fight against hypertension. They regulate imbalances of the quantity of liquids existing throughout the body. An excess of fluid can cause a rise in pressure in the blood vessels. Celery also purifies the blood, making it more fluid and thus facilitating blood circulation. Proper blood circulation in the blood vessels is incredibly important to maintain, and celery juice is an excellent way to do that.

Why Include Celery Juice in Your Regular Diet?

Extracting the juice from raw vegetables breaks down the fibers and thus allows the body to absorb the precious nutrients more easily. Celery juice helps you absorb more nutrients from raw vegetables, which is important because many of us suffer from poor digestion because of our poor dietary choices in the past.

Celery juice makes it possible to eat more fresh vegetables: many people are already struggling to keep up with the 5 necessary servings of fruits and vegetables a day, while it. But, by drinking a glass of juice, you bring to your body the best of the vegetables. Juicing your veggies is a great way to revitalize the body because juices have a very high concentration of nutrients and energy elements.

Celery juice is a living element that has many virtues. It has the merit of helping the digestive system to rebuild itself regularly, which makes it very useful in cases of colitis, gastritis, and general inflammations; it contains all the nutritional elements of vegetables, without the insoluble fibers.

Quick Tips for Buying Quality Celery:

  • Choose the greenest specimens, which contain more chlorophyll.
  • Make sure the stalks of your celery are firm.
  • Try to buy organic celery.
  • In the refrigerator, keep the celery wrapped in a plastic bag or in an airtight container.
  • Celery tends to fade quickly, so avoid leaving it too long at room temperature.
  • If your celery has softened, place it in cold water and leave it for 20 to 30 minutes. Then place it in the refrigerator for a few hours so it can regain its crispness.

How to Make Your Own Celery Juice:

It can be hard to find freshly prepared, quality celery juice in your local grocery store. Unless your grocer literally juices the vegetables right in front of your eyes (and that can be quite expensive), you also don’t know exactly what’s gone into it. It is always better to make your own juices yourself at home, and you don’t necessarily need to shell out big bucks on a juicer to do it.

There are two ways you can make celery juice at home:

With a juice extractor:

After washing and cutting large pieces of a celery head, simply place the celery in the juice extractor… That’s it!

With a mixer:

The celery head is washed, cut into sections, and mixed with about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of water. You do have to use a powerful mixer for this. Mix until you get a homogeneous juice, then put the mixture in a large colander, taking care to get as much juice out as possible by pressing down on the celery pulp.

Celery Juice Recipes:

If you don’t like the taste of pure celery juice, here are some recipes of celery juice mix with other ingredients:

  • Mix 1: 5 celery stalks, 1 small cucumber, 1 lemon, 1 piece of ginger
  • Mix 2: 3 celery stems, 3 spinach handles, 1 parsley, 1 granny apple, 1/2 lemon
  • Mix 3: 3 celery stalks, 5-6 leaves of salad, 1 tomato, 1 carrot, 1/2 lemon
  • Mix 4: 3 branches of celery, 1 cucumber, 1 handful of mint leaves
  • Mix 5: 2 celery stalks, 3 spinach handles, 1 handful of parsley, 1 cucumber, 1 apple, 1/2 lemon, 1 piece of ginger, 1 clove of garlic

How Much & How Often?

To see the benefits of celery juice, it is advisable to drink about 450 mL on an empty stomach every morning. It’s best to drink fresh celery juice without any other ingredients. Remember, to make about 450 mL of juice, you’ll need a big head of celery. You also need to wait at least 30 minutes before eating or drinking anything for the celery juice to really work its way through your entire system.

Drinking celery juice doesn’t have to be an unpleasant experience! If the taste puts you off, try one of the mixtures above and remember the many virtues that this drink has on your health. To reduce the pronounced taste of celery, make sure to drink your juice cold. Place it in the freezer for 5 to 10 minutes after you’ve prepared it to give it a little chill and make it a little more tolerable.
