Did you know that almost 40% of adults do not get enough sleep every night? Sleep deprivation has a huge impact on your mental health. It can affect your ability to problem solve, focus, and recall memories. Driving tired is just as dangerous as driving under the influence.
Get at least 7-9 hours of sleep every night. Go to bed at the same time. Create a dark and quiet place to sleep. Unwind a few hours before bed. Disconnect from your digital devices. Read, meditate, colour in an adult colouring book, or paint. Find an activity that relaxes you. Get better sleep and put your mental health first. You will be more productive and happier in the long run!
Here's a quick tip to help you expand your thinking so you don't limit yourself. Words create thought patterns and quite literally program our life. When we recognize this power, we can use it to take the lid off of our mind.
Sit quietly and close your eyes. Ask to see where you are limiting yourself in your mind. Wait for the answer to show up. Write down what comes. Now ask yourself, where did this limiting viewpoint come from? Write down what comes.
The answers that come to us can be simple yet profound. Our mind is very powerful and when we use it to our benefit we can overcome many obstacles that we allow in our lives that make us work harder than we need to.

Sit with your eyes closed and take a deep breath. As you exhale watch all your thoughts leaving your body. Do this two more times. Now sit in a blank space where there are no thoughts. When you see a thought start to come into your blank space tell it gently, not now.
You can now choose one thought and let's make it a positive one. How about this, 'today is the best day of my life.' This will put you in a high frequency and help train your mind to keep it simple and keep it positive. True independence and happiness comes from training our mind.

You're the screenwriter of the movie of your life. Sit and meditate and look at your negative perceptions where you may be overcritical or not seeing the positive side. Release those thoughts to the universe and replace them with gratitude.
Now, look at the stories that have been playing in your mind about your life. Are they positive? If not, let them go and play one with a happy present, past and future!

Breads and cereals bring you essential carbohydrate energy to start the day, but not all grain products are equal. Look for those with a low glycemic index, as their carbohydrates will be used gradually by our body to avoid cravings. Glycemic index is a number associated with the carbohydrates in a particular type of food that indicates their effect on a person's blood glucose, or blood sugar) levels.
Foods with carbohydrates that quickly break down during digestion and release glucose rapidly into the bloodstream tend to have a high GI (White bread, corn syrup.); foods with carbohydrates that break down more slowly, releasing glucose more gradually into the bloodstream, tend to have a low GI (Beans, seeds and most vegetables.) - wikipedia
Taking the time to eat is advice that may seem simple, but doing so will make all the difference. This will allow you to be more attentive to your hunger and feelings of satiation which, may take longer to manifest.
When we eat in front of the computer or the television, our attention is diverted from our body's signals, making it difficult to detect them. We often eat faster and it’s easy to consume all the contents of our plate without even appreciating it. Intentionally slowing down and taking the time to notice when you are actually full and don't need to keep eating is a great way to practice intuitive eating.

Why? In addition to its taste qualities, cumin is also known in herbal medicine for its antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory qualities. Its consumption is particularly recommended in case of difficult digestion, flatulence, vomiting and abdominal pain. It has even been used for insomnia, viral infection, treating hemorrhoids and weakened immune systems.
Cumin is an excellent source of dietary fiber and antioxidant, as well as calcium and iron. Just 1 tablespoon of cumin contains 22% of our daily iron! Look for some recipes that use cumin and start incorporating it into your cooking.
Did you know that sweet potato is not part of the potato family? With its bell-shaped flowers, this food has a sweet, sweet taste and orange flesh. Highly appreciated by children, sweet potato has an interesting nutritional value as it contains vitamins A, B, C and B6, potassium and folic acid.
With a slightly higher starch content than potato, sweet potato is considered a starch and provides about 130 calories per half cup. It adds variety to our menus and can be used to make pies, cakes, puddings, mashed or au gratin.
Did you know you can self-impose a sleeping disorder? Psychophysiologic insomnia is one of the most common and difficult types of sleep disorder to treat. When you worry about not getting enough sleep, lying there thinking about it can start a cycle of sleeplessness and anxiety that can cause weight gain, stress and insomnia.
The next time you've had no rest, try not to stress about it when you get back under the covers the following night. Reading a book, having a warm bath and listening to music can help you stop thinking about sleeping, and actually give you some shuteye before you work yourself up into a larger issue!

Do you have trouble speaking your mind? Balancing your Throat chakra can help you be more vocal and stick up for yourself. Lots of people go their whole lives without actually saying how they feel even though it's incredibly good for our health and relationships.
Eating blueberries and blackberries can help you stimulate the Throat chakra so you can communicate better. Wearing blue lapis lazuli stones as well as turquoise or blue-coloured clothing can help us balance an overactive or underactive Throat chakra. If it's overactive, you may be speaking without thinking, which can drain us of our vital energy.
Stretching the neck in yoga poses (such as plow pose) can also help balance your Throat chakra so you can find your voice!
Do you know where your solar plexus chakra is located? It's at the soft point at the top of your stomach where the ribs meet. It's linked to the color yellow as well as our will power and confidence.
Sings of an block in this energy center could include the emotional qualities of feeling low self esteem or lack of self motivation as well as the health conditions of ulcers, blood sugar issues, nervousness, diabetes, stimulant addictions, digestive issues or liver problems.
You can balance this chakra by eating a healthy diet, lowering stress and caffeine intake as well as working on healing your self esteem and self determination with will power and regular exercise that will strengthen the muscles in that area allowing the energy to flow easier.

Focus on self-love affirmations like, "I release the pain from past relationships and forgive the people in my past. I am open to healthy relationships."
